Our doors may be closed because of COVID-19, but we still want to hold as many programs as we can!
You can find Preschool Storytimes online by clicking the link or going to our Facebook page. Also keep watching our Facebook page for more program announcements, fun resources and videos, and great activities for kids.
We're also moving some adult programming online:
- Email Joy with questions about our online Pageburners Book Club, which takes place on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
- MONDAY NIGHT BOOK CLUB: Email Mardia about Monday Night Book Club, which takes place the 3rd Monday evening of each month.
- KNIT KNIGHTS: Email Caroline about Knit Nights, which take place on 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m.
- TEEN MEETINGS: Email Pam for more information about hosting some meetings for our teen and TAB, our teen advisory board.

Below is a list of our normal programming prior to COVID-19 - we hope to resume normal programming as soon as we can!!
- Adult Coloring Club - Coloring isn't just for kids. It can actually help adults combat stress! Come with your own coloring books or use some of our coloring sheets and...relax!
- Knit & Crochet Night - Knitters and Crocheters of all levels and ages are welcome! Please bring your own needles and yarn.
- Monday Night Book Club - Book discussion, opinion sharing, refreshments, and lots of fun! It is open to young adult and up in age and new members are always welcome. Please contact Mardia Jacobs for any special dates and locations along with our reading list.
- Pageburners Book Club @ Revival - Book discussion, social outing, cocktails, and all at Revival 1869 in downtown Clayton. This book club is for adults 21 and over. Please contact Joy Garretson for any special dates and locations along with the reading list.
- Senior Book Club - This book club is a partnership with the Clayton Center for Active Aging.
STORYTIMES
Children's Storytimes - January through May AND September through November (Check the calendar above to see if these events are happening this month!)
(We break for our special Summer Reading programs in June, July & August and for the holiday season in December.)
- Storytime - Stories, crafts, and special guests designed for preschool children ages 4-5.
- Movement and Music - Designed for children ages 2-3, this program uses rhymes and songs to help toddlers develop pre-literacy skills while wiggling and dancing.
- Books with Buddy – Did you know reading to a therapy dog can help kids improve their reading and communication skills and also teaches them to love books and reading? Our therapy dog team, Dawn & Colden, visit the library to read with you in the children's room! Come ome by any time during the hour to read with Colden or just say hello! Just plan to allow 10 minutes for your child. We'll start a wait list if needed.
Baby Storytimes - Meeting January through May AND September through December - (Check the calendar above to see if these events are happening this month!)

- Baby songs, stories, giggles, and rhymes for children 2 years and under with their caregivers.
Other Children's Events:
- Homeschool Book Club– Designed for homeschooled (or non-traditionally-schooled) kids ages 7-11. In this book club, we will discuss one book each month and create a craft or activity related to the month's book. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate along with their child(ren). If you plan to participate, please contact the library to register.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE
Best bargains in Town: a whole grocery bag of books for practically nothing! Every spring and fall, the Friends of the Library non-profit group hosts a book sale at Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library to help support the Clayton Library.
Learn more about the Friends of the Library by following them on Facebook and Instagram. The Friends of the Library holds general meetings at 4:00 p.m. on the 4th Thursday of January, July and October. All are welcome!
